IBM’s AS400 is a midrange computer system, also by some referred to as a mini mainframe. The AS400 (Application System/400) has an interesting and unique architecture that is very reliable. However when failure occurs to the AS/400 or iSeries there are very few experts that can assist with troubleshooting a failure, this is especially true when data loss is involved.
These servers are almost always setup with a raid type parity configuration and utilize SCSI drives that use a non-standard sector formatting, which makes it impossible to apply some of the traditional standard data recovery techniques. Additional data recovery challenges are presented by the proprietary Integrated File System (IFS), which is not supported by any commercially available tools and or applications outside of the OS/400 or AS/400 itself.
These challenges have prohibited most data recovery companies from successfully salvaging data from a failed AS400 or iSeries server.
Our team has experience in recovering data from the AS/400 platform and the Integrated File System. If you are in need of assistance, please contact us immediately.
We love a challenge and we have assisted over a dozen clients with successful recoveries from AS/400 and mini mainframes.
Some of the common situations in which we can assist include:
- Single drive failure
- Multiple drive failure
- Deleted files
- Deleted volume
- Data corruption
- Hardware failure
- Damage during rebuild
Some of the AS400 configurations we have successfully recovered data from include:
- AS/400 150 & 170
- AS/400 720,730 & 740
- iSeries 250 & 270
- iSeries 800, 810, 820, 830, 840
- Power5 i520, i570
